Saskatchewan’s own Tatiana Maslany, who stars on the hit series “Orphan Black,” took home the Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Drama over the weekend.
Maslany, who has also won an ACTRA Award, a Gemini Award, and a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, is just 27 years old. As CBC News points out, receiving the Television Critics Association Award is significant given that past winners of the award include “Mad Men’s” Jon Hamm, “Breaking Bad’s” Bryan Cranston, and James Gandolfini for his role in “The Sopranos.” She beat out mainstay actors of hit shows for the Individual Achievement in Drama title this year like Cranston and Claire Danes of “Homeland.”
Maslany had previously appeared on shows like “Being Erica,” “The Nativity,” and “Heartland” before landing the role of Sarah Manning on “Orphan Black,” which is co-produced by the Bell Media-owned specialty channel Space and by the U.S. cable channel BBC America.
