Being one of the most anticipated titles to be released this holiday season, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is setting its ships to full sail as it prepares to make a splash on current and next gen consoles. With that in mind, the gaming community is hoping that this title will surpass the rest and not sink to the bottom of the Assassin’s Creed list, and we happen to think it’ll meet those expectations and then some.
Take a look at these five things Black Flag is changing to the formula in hopes to become the best Assassin’s Creed title in years.
5 Changes that Make Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag a Killer Release
Bang for your buck
If you are worrying about whether or not there will be enough time to run around pillaging and plundering the world around you as Edward Kenway, then think again. It was said by Ubisoft that there will be around 20 hours of gameplay from start to finish if you try to just burn through skipping all the little things in the story. Not only is this the longest time for an Assassin’s Creed title, but it also doesn’t matter much if all you want to do if run around the globe slashing your way through anything that may get in your way. Because, after all, you are the one in charge of how the game is played, so get out there and raid towns and eviscerate as many ships as you please.
Trimming the fat
There will not be hours of incessantly irritating gameplay that prevents you from going back into the Animus to pillage and plunder to your heart’s content. Instead, it was decided that if you really wanted to cut out as much time in the present as you could, that you could minimize your time to approximately 45 minutes. This doesn’t mean that it is set to only 45 minutes, though. If you enjoy running around and taking in the intricate designs and options the present supplies, then you can be more than free to do so.
A new hero emerges
For any of you that are just now jumping into the gaming phenomenon, or anyone that hasn’t played Assassin’s Creed 3, then here comes a huge point for Black Flag. Throughout the series we have always played as Desmond Miles, an assassin that has been used merely for his link to all of his past ancestors in hopes for finding the Pieces of Eden, and to save the world. However, he will not be the main character in the present time. In-fact, he’s dead, so that would make things rather awkward. Instead Ubisoft will be introducing a new character to the Animus test group, and he looks awesome.
Insight into the dark side
While you are playing during the present time, you will actually be an employee that is working with the Templars. This is because the Templars have developed the technology to access the various memories and lifelines of anyone’s ancestors via the Animus. Another reason for this approach may have also been to humanize the Templar side, rather than demonizing them and forming the image or sheer evilness whenever the word ‘Templar’ was muttered. However, if you still happen to despise them, then just remember the previous point of minimized time in the present.
Hardy har har
What may turn out to be the best part of Black Flag, being a pirate . You will be able to play however you want, running amok through towns as you linger around the brothels with women wrapped around your arms. You will be able to get completely smashed and watch your screen blur as your character stumbles, and waddle your way into a fight which will lead to you slicing someone from head to toe. And to top it all off, you may even be able to brutally decapitate an enemy. Although it has yet to be fully confirmed, there are plenty of images circulating the web depicting two cutlasses slicing through an enemy’s throat as the blood sprays through the air.
