“I’ve had many faces. many lives. There’s one life I’ve tried very hard to forget.” – The Doctor.
During the seventh season finale of “Doctor Who,” the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) and his companion, Clara Oswald came face-fo-face with the Doctor’s biggest secret: a hidden incarnation of himself played by screen legend John Hurt.
The mystery of the unknown Doctor will unfold in two weeks during the “Doctor Who” 50th anniversary special, “The Day of The Doctor;” which brings back David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler.
At Comic-Con International, “Doctor Who” showrunner, Steven Moffat showed the first “Day of The Doctor” teaser trailer, but BBC hasn’t released a trailer of its own until now. There are actually two trailers that were revealed today, one that premiered on BBC One and another longer trailer on the BBC website.
First, the TV trailer; which shows the two Doctors delighting in their eccentricities, Clara using a teleportation device, Rose’s eyes glowing with power and the mystery Doctor about to use “the moment” that ended the Time War.
The second trailer is even better than the first with an additional 20 seconds of footage.
And finally, BBC has released a brief teaser scene of the Doctor and Clara looking a painting that seems to depict Gallifrey, from the personal collection of Queen Elizabeth I!
“Doctor Who: The Day of The Doctor” will premiere worldwide on Saturday, November 23. Next week, a prequel minisode, “The Night of The Doctor” will set the stage for the Doctors’ biggest adventure to date.
