49ers vs Seahawks NFC Championship Was Game Of The Year

From the opening play in which Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson gave up a fumble, to the game’s post-game interview in which the world witnessed Seahawks corner Richard Sherman go all WWE on Erin Andrews, the 2014 NFC Championship game was without a doubt the most enthralling and outright ridiculous game of the 2013-14 NFL season.

Here’s what you may have missed Sunday night:

Colin Kaepernick — who now has three of the four longest postseason rushes by a quarterback since 2001 — finished with 130 yards rushing, which included an incredible 58-yard run in the second quarter. Kap would also thread the needle in the third quarter, completing an amazing 26-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin to take a 17-10 lead.

Seattle however would force three fourth quarter turnovers. Wilson would throw a terrific 35-yard touchdown pass on fourth down to score the game winning touchdown, taking a 23-17 lead.

But the great plays were just half the story…

There was this cheapshot on Jeremy Lane via an undressed 49ers player — a move no referee caught. This Vine subscriber did however:

Ya, it’s obvious these teams hate each other.

Then, unfortunately, there was this NaVorro Bowman injury late in the second half. The All-Pro somehow came down with the ball, held on in possession, as his leg was breaking…

Warning: this footage is slightly disturbing.

Gregg Rosenthal, reporter for NFL.com, tweeted that Seahawks fans threw food at Bowman on his way off the field. Did I mention these two teams hate each other? Seems the same goes for the fans. Classy.

Finally, the final play of the game in which Kaepernick’s pass attempt to Michael Crabtree in the back of the endzone was tipped by Sherman, resulting in a Seattle interception to seal the victory for the ‘Hawks:

Sherman then completely lost his mind during the post-game interview, going all ghetto on reporter Erin Andrews, calling out Crabtree in the process.

Please let us know if you know what LOB means… “lights out bitch”??…

Super Bowl XLVIII is now set — Seattle vs. Denver in New Jersey Feb. 2. It’s the first trip to the big game for Seattle since they lost to Pittsburgh after the 2005 season. It’s the first trip for Denver since John Elways last hurrah in the late 90s.
