As longtime “Doctor Who” fans know, the Doctor rarely changes his clothes and he often becomes identified with one particular outfit. Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor was unusual in this his costume actually changed slightly during the seventh season.
When Peter Capaldi made his debut as the Doctor during the final moments of “The Time of The Doctor,” he was still wearing the Eleventh Doctor’s clothes. But he’ll soon take up a brand new look of his own. BBC has released the first official picture of Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor in his signature costume. As Capaldi himself puts it, “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”
The Twelfth Doctor’s new outfit was designed by current “Doctor Who” costume designer, Howard Burden. The major elements include a Crombie coat, trousers, Doc Marten shoes and a lot of dark blue colors.
“Doctor Who” Season 8 is currently in production with a premiere expected to come in Fall 2014.
