Super Bowl 2014: Strippers & Football – The Perfect Marriage?

Although many people have been talking about the clouds of bad weather that could be present at the Super Bowl and the clouds of pot smoke that will almost certainly be present in the homes of Broncos and Seahawks fans watching the Super Bowl, there’s another topic that has been omnipresent in the weeks leading up to the big game at MetLife Stadium – strippers.

In order to meet the anticipated demand for good-looking pole dancers, several Big Apple strip joints decided to import ladies from out of town. According to reports, a representative from Scores confirmed that the club was bringing in girls from Russia…with love.

Rick’s Cabaret International took things one step further by opening a brand new gentlemen’s club called Vivid Cabaret that will offer a “non-stop party” from Jan. 29 through Feb. 3 featuring adult film stars like Tera Patrick, Brandy Aniston, Ash Hollywood, Kendall Karson, Savanna Samson, Monique Alexander and Heather Hunter.

In addition to offering up big stars for the big game, Vivid Cabaret also brought something else to New York City to commemorate the Super Bowl…a 25-foot stripper pole. According to the club’s manager, several professional athletes have reserved tables for Super Bowl Sunday in order to watch the game and see how many girls can fit on NYC’s tallest strip-club pole (the record currently sits at three).

With all of the hype surrounding Super Bowl strippers, it almost seemed natural that the players would have to talk about it. Fittingly, it was outspoken Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman who first addressed the issue on media day.

He was asked: “As far as money is concerned, all of you football guys has [sic] gone into the strip clubs and are raining [money] down on the strippers. I think that’s a bad example for our young ladies. How can we stop that. I think it’s a bad example that we setting for our young girls that they need to be strippers. How do we deal with that issue?”

Sherman responded: “Well, I’ve never gone into a strip club and thrown money, so I couldn’t tell you. I guess trying to understand that there are other avenues, there are other ways you can make money, that women can do anything they want in this world. You can go out there and be a CEO of a company. Like I said before, the same can be said for kids in the inner city — the ceiling is limitless and don’t limit yourself to those possibilities and those circumstances.”

While Sherman was willing to talk about the issue on the record, one of his teammates chose to keep his comments about the matter on the down low. An unnamed Seattle player didn’t say that he’s never gone into a strip club and thrown money, but he did mention that he certainly won’t be doing it during Super Bowl week.

“I can tell you most of us are not here to party,” said the unnamed player. “I can’t speak for the whole team but most of us. No strippers for us. No craziness. No parties. No staying out late. This is a business trip for us. No sex for me the entire week. That’s how serious I am.”

Win or lose, he might want to go look for dancer Diana LoMoro after the game. LoMoro has worked in the adult entertainment business for 30 years and has been dancing at Satin Dolls near MetLife Stadium since the club opened 24 years ago.

LoMoro was working in 1986 when the Giants and Mets were both World Champions and she’s hoping that the cold-weather New Jersey Super Bowl will be on par with those events and live up to the hype.

“I’ve been working the business for a lot of Super Bowls,” LoMoro said. “But this one for me is the biggest because it’s here. It’s the biggest for me. I’ve never gotten excited over the Super Bowl…My goal is to have a great time — and make a lot of money.”

Super Bowls and strippers – a match made in heaven.
