Arnold Schwarzenegger Describes the Plot of Terminator: Genesis

Arnold Schwarzenegger seems keen to return to the franchises that made him famous. It probably doesn’t hurt that his first two starring roles since he returned to acting were the box office disappointments The Last Stand and Escape Plan. While we’re still waiting for a new Conan to take shape, it appears that Terminator: Genesis is genuinely on the fast track, and Arnold Schwarzenegger has just revealed to MTV what we can expect to see in the sequel/prequel/reboot.

“Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800,” Arnold Schwarzenegger says. “And then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good.”

A younger T-800? We’ve seen that before in Terminator: Salvation, and it looked… well, let’s just say we hope the technology has improved. But wait a second, that means there’s an OLDER T-800 in Terminator: Genesis. Do Terminators age?

“The way that the character is written, it’s a machine underneath,” Schwarzenegger told MTV. “It’s this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator’s flesh ages, just like any other human being’s flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages.”

Well, that makes sense.

Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is on board to direct Terminator: Genesis, his “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke is all set to play Sarah Connor, Divergent‘s Jai Courtney will play Kyle Reese, and Zero Dark Thirty‘s Jason Clarke will play the older version of John Connor, the anti-robot freedom fighter that Skynet keeps sending Terminators back in time to kill in the first place.

And Schwarzenegger? He’s playing a Terminator of course. Unless Chief Master Sergeant William Candy has a cameo.
