The city of Atlanta was awarded the 22nd MLS franchise this week on the heels that Orlando and Miami were also getting teams. NFL Falcons’ owner, Arthur Blank, announced the team will start play in 2017.
The team is still without a name which brings about tons of speculation.
Will they follow Seattle’s lead and take on the city’s NASL team name? Will they be like Salt Lake and D.C. and pick a Euro team name like Real or United? Or will they be like the Chicago Fire, LA Galaxy or New England Revolution and choose an original name that reflects local history and flair?
