New Live-Action Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie in the Works

No good corpse can be left unmolested for long in Hollywood…

That adage was proven once again Wednesday with word that Lionsgate is hip-deep in rebooting an updated big-screen version of the 90s kid TV favorite Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Now, if you weren’t around then to enjoy the absurdity of Disney Channel reject actors from the U.S. wearing garish costumes and being not-so-skillfully edited into pre-existing Japanese action sequences…well, congratulations, you dodged a bullet.

But for those who did, you’ll now get another chance to see a poorly-executed, moronically-scripted, slap-dash “it’s-only-for-kids-anyway-so-what-the-hell” property resurrected for the purpose of squeezing out a few nostalgia dollars.

Well played, Lionsgate, well played…

As pointed out by Crave movie site /Film, there are no creative types attached in the Lionsgate press release announcing the new film and no release date set.  However, if the original series is any indication, principal photography on the new movie could be done by Friday and finished with special effects over the weekend.

Kidding…sort of…
