‘Sleepy Hollow’ Stars Tease Season 2

Back in January, the first season finale of “Sleepy Hollow” left Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) trapped in a grave by his vengeful son, Jeremy Crane/Henry Parrish (John Noble), Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) trapped in Purgatory, Frank Irving (Orlando Jones) in jail for murders that he didn’t commit, Katrina Crane (Katia Winter) as a prisoner of the Headless Horseman and Jenny Mills (Lyndie Greenwood) left for dead on the side of a road.

In short, the good guys took it on the chin. And it’s only going to get more intense from there.

At a “Sleepy Hollow” event held at the Los Angeles’ Hollywood Forever Cemetery (via Variety), Mison said that “the second season starts exactly at the moment the finale left off, so all of the pace that’s been building up through the last 13 episodes, it’s just straight in. We’re hitting the ground running, so there’s no time for Ichabod or Abbie to sit back and consider what’s happened.”

Behaire told the crowd that the upcoming season will delve into Abbie’s past and “more family stuff for everyone — you’ll see where [Abbie] comes from and why she’s a Witness as well.” She added that “[Abbie is] a little terrified — Purgatory is challenging, that’s the whole idea… Every story you hear about it is that it’s going to try you and challenge you and play with your mind. It’s interesting how she deals with it.”

“Sleepy Hollow” executive producer Mark Goffman also offered up his thoughts on bringing in Timothy Busfield to play Benjamin Franklin in season 2.

“We wanted to come up with a Franklin that had never really been portrayed before on television,” explained Goffman. “And this one has a level of irreverence and brilliance and smarts — his relationship with Crane is going to be something that’s memorable and a lot of fun to watch.”

“This is a person who was responsible for so much of the founding of our country and so many inventions that we take for granted,” continued Goffman. “There’s many seasons worth of stories to unwind in how he played a role in the Revolution and his relationship with Crane.”

At the event, it was also announced that “Sleepy Hollow” Season 2 will premiere on Monday, September 22 on Fox.
