24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY Episode 6 Recap

24: Live Another Day Episode 6

Episode Title: “Day 9: 4:00 PM-5:00 PM”

Writer: David Fury

Director: Omar Madha

Previously on “24: Live Another Day”:

For the midway point of “24: Live Another Day,” we’ve got a long expected team up and the first hints of two new villains, once the producers get tired of Evil Catelyn Stark aka Margot Al-Harazi (Michelle Fairley).

President What’s His Name

In the aftermath of the botched raid, President James Heller (William Devane) begins to display more symptoms of his mental deterioration in front of Prime Minister Alastair Davies (Stephen Fry), who loses faith in his abilities. Out of desperation, Heller turns to Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and gives him operational control to track down a lead on Margot and her renegade drones.

You’d think that Jack would earn a Presidential pardon for all of this, but the only reward he seems to be in line for is a trip straight to prison.

Remember The Russians?

But a lifetime in prison may be preferable to ending up at the mercy of the Russians. After Mark Boudreau (Tate Donovan) awkwardly tries to warn Jack to stay away from Audrey Heller (Kim Raver), he fields a call from an angry colleague in the Russian government who wants to know why Jack hasn’t been handed over to them yet.

The Russian senses Mark’s hesitancy to involve Heller, but does he figure out that Mark forged Heller’s signature on the document? It seems like perfectly good blackmail material, doesn’t it?

When Jack Met Kate (Again)

With Jack reinstated, he has Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) placed under his command for a dangerous mission. Perhaps seeing something of himself in Kate, Jack explains that he’s spent the last few years working for an arms dealer named Karl Rask (Aksel Hennie) while secretly dismantling the uglier aspects of his business from within.

To win Rask’s trust back, Jack convinces Kate to let him drug her and turn her over to Rask while Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) uses the opportunity to sneak into Rask’s computer system to fund Margot. Even Jack’s buddy, Belcheck (Branko Tomović) gets involved to help Kate survive the experience.

The Rise of Lady Bauer

Unfortunately, the Prime Minister and his forces bungle everything by knocking out Belcheck and staging a raid on Rask’s headquarters before Jack can get Rask to let Chloe into his systems. Meanwhile, Rask’s men brutally interrogate Kate until she gets the chance to strangle one of them with her legs and stab him to death.

Now that’s a Jack Bauer moment worthy of the man himself.

Jack Takes Charge

In the midst of the raid, Jack seemingly takes out more of Rask’s men than the invading British forces. Even the Brits seem to defer to Jack based on his strength of personality alone. But Rask commits suicide by grenade rather than fall into government custody.

Only Jack appears to be unscathed… because he’s Jack Bauer. Deal with it!

Simone Catches The Bus

Meanwhile, Margot dispatches Simone Al-Harazi (Emily Berrington) to kill her late husband’s sister, Farah (Tehmina Sunny) and her daughter, Yasmin (Nikita Mehta) in case Navid told them why he wanted to get them out of London.

While Simone was stoic about letting Margot kill Navid, she actually has a soft spot for Farah and Yasmin. But she’s so clumsy about her warning that Simone accidentally kills Farah and chases Yasmin into London traffic… where Simone is hit head on by a double decker bus.

I’ll admit it, I laughed at that scene.

And This Year’s Mole Is…

Guess who didn’t die in last week’s episode? It’s Steve Navarro (Benjamin Bratt), who also happens to be the newest mole! There’s always a mole on “24,” so I should have started a betting pool and put everything on Steve.

Judging from Steve’s clandestine phone call in the closing seconds, he framed Kate’s late husband for treason and he may have had a hand in his death as well. This doesn’t seem to be directly connected to Margot or the Russians, so who is Steve working with? And what is their agenda?
