Former Channel 10 star Rove McManus is reportedly set to return to the network later this year as the new host of “The Project“.
News Limited is reporting the comedian is expected to finalise his contract with the network today and will take up his post replacing former Project host Charlie Pickering midway through next month. Channel 10 has since confirmed the news, announcing that McManus will be guest co-hosting “The Project” from August 18th until December.
The position will see McManus return to star alongside his peers Carrie Bickmore and Peter Helliar on the network that made him a household name when it aired his eponymous talk show “Rove Live” in the 2000s. According to The Daily Telegraph’s Taylor Auerbach, the contract between McManus and the network would be reviewed at the end of the year.
The move back to Channel 10 closes out a chapter for McManus who hasn’t had much success in forging a career for himself on US television. His improvisational “Riot” game show, produced by “The Office”‘s Steve Carell, achieved dismal ratings and was axed earlier this year after just a handful of episodes.
Current host of “The Project” Matt Doran has been filling in on the panel since Pickering’s departure and was also reportedly in the running to host the show full time.
