TIFF VIDEO: Tony Ayres on ‘Cut Snake’

TIFF 2014: Cut Snake – Interview with Director… by CraveOnline

Filmmaker Tony Ayres has been directing for over 20 years, but newest and biggest film Cut Snake seems primed to bring him international attention. After all, it’s playing at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, where some of the biggest and most important films of all time have made their debut. CraveOnline wanted to get to know him better, so we tracked him down for an exclusive video interview from the festival to talk about Cut Snake, the new crime thriller starring Alex Russell (Chronicle) and Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of an Empire).

Tony Ayres tells CraveOnline’s Brian Formo all about the decade it took to get Cut Snake produced, what changed about the film over the years and how it was originally “three different movies” that he gradually cut down to one story. He also explains the casting process that brought Sullivan Stapleton and Alex Russell into the film, why the film is set in 1970s Australia, why they re-recorded all the music instead of using the original songs we all know and love.

Cut Snake is playing this week at the Toronto International Film Festival. Check back throughout the week for more exclusive reviews and interviews from TIFF 2014!
