Mark Wahlberg & Paramount Bring ‘Shooter’ TV Series To TNT

Back in 2007, Mark Wahlberg starred in the feature film Shooter for director Antoine Fuqua. Seven years later, Shooter is heading to TV and Wahlberg isn’t done with it yet.

Deadline is reporting that Paramount TV has lined up a development deal for a “Shooter” TV series at TNT. Based upon the feature film and the novel Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter, “Shooter” will focus on former U.S. Marine Scout Sniper Bob Lee Swagger after he is forced to go on the run for a murder he didn’t commit.

Wahlberg is attached to the potential “Shooter” TV series as an executive producer, but it’s unlikely that he will reprise his role as Swagger for the show. John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening) is writing the “Shooter” pilot script and he will also serve as an executive producer on the show alongside Stephen Levinson and Wahlberg.

“Shooter” is the latest project to be sold by Paramount TV, which recently lined up a “School of Rock” television show at Nickelodeon and placed “Minority Report” and “Shutter Island” in development at Fox and HBO, respectively.

TNT has yet to give “Shooter” a formal pilot order. If that happens, “Shooter” would likely begin production in 2015.
