“Hannibal” Season 3 will be cannibalizing the stories from three different Thomas Harris novels: Hannibal, Hannibal Rising and Red Dragon. Most of the recent casting announcements have centered on characters from Red Dragon. The latest addition to the cast is no exception.
TVLine broke the story that Rutina Wesley has been cast in “Hannibal” Season 3 as Reba McClane, the blind love interest of serial killer Francis Dolarhyde aka The Tooth Fairy (Richard Armitage). Like Armitage, Wesley will appear on a recurring role in the back half of the third season.
Wesley is best known for starring as Tara in “True Blood” for most of that series’ seven season run on HBO. She has also appeared in “Numb3rs,” and the films How She Move, California Winter, Last Weekend and 13 Sins.

Joan Allen originated the role of Reba McClane in Manhunter, while Emily Watson took over the part in Red Dragon. Wesley’s incarnation of the character will maintain a similar storyline, as she forms a romantic relationship with Dolarhyde that temporarily makes him question his murderous urges.
“Hannibal” Season 3 will premiere this summer on NBC.
