In case you missed the news over the weekend, renowned point guard and passer extraordinaire Steve Nash has decided to retire from the NBA.
He played 18 seasons and, at the age of 41, decided that this is the time that is best for him because of long-running back issues that troubled him this season (he hasn’t played at all this year, actually). He was the winner of multiple MVP awards and exits the NBA finishing third in assists (10,335), behind John Stockton (15,806) and Jason Kidd (12,091).
While never winning a championship, the skilled point guard does have one title he can claim: his 90.4% free throw average is the best in NBA history. I’d say that being able to claim that alone is enough to quit while you’re ahead.
Thanks to NESN for the update on Steve Nash’s upcoming retirement.
