Aussies Strike Blow In World Cup Final

Brad Haddin has taken a huge catch to end a 111-run partnership between Ross Taylor and Grant Elliot. Ross Taylor chased a James Faulkner slower ball across his body in the first over of the batting powerplay.

Kumar Dharmasena had to refer to video umpire Marais Erasmus as to whether the ball bounced before or after reaching Haddin behind the stumps.

Haddin dived low to his right after the ball was chipped at yorker length by Taylor. Faulkner’s change of pace is hard to detect and caused more trouble for the Kiwis.

Corey Anderson misjudged the pace of his second delivery faced and had his off stump rattled much to the joy of the Australians as the Kiwis slumped to 5/150.

Michael Clarke opted to reintroduce talisman Mitchell Starc immediately with great success. Starc had Australian convert Luke Ronchi caught by his captain in first slip for zero. Clarke moved well to take the catch after placing himself in the position in support of his bowler.

New Zealand struggling at 6/152 with the Aussies bowling well in the 38th over with Daniel Vettori and Grant Elliot at the crease. Just as he did in the pool match against Australia, Elliot will now need to steer the tail of the New Zealand innings toward a respectable total.
