White Sox, Royals Breakout First Major MLB Brawl Of Season

Just days after Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura got into it with Athletics infielder Brett Lawrie and nearly started a fight after bumping Angels star Mike Trout, the 23-year-old found himself in the midst of another scuffle Thursday night in Chicago.

Okay, it wasn’t exactly a scuffle, more so a full out brawl. But we only wish we knew what started it all.

Sox outfielder Adam Eaton hit a one-hop comebacker to Ventura after he fast-pitched him, then words were exchanged between the two while Eaton ran to first base. When Ventura started walking up to Eaton like he ‘wanted a piece,’ benches cleared.

The tension has been rising between these two teams for quite some time, but especially earlier in this game when Jose Abreu was hit by Ventura in the fourth inning, followed by Chris Sale hitting Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas in the fifth.

When the brawl finally ended, Lorenzo Cain, Edinson Volquez and Ventura were all ejected for the Royals and Jeff Samardzija and Sale were booted for the Sox.

Although we still don’t know what was said from Eaton as he ran down the line, Royals manager Ned Yost told reporters after the game that Ventura needs to do a better job at controlling his emotions.

Royals won the game 3-2 in 13 innings.
