Danny Ings has agreed on personal terms with Liverpool, as the 22-year-old is looking set to move to Anfield next season.

Liverpool have swooped in with an offer for the England Under-21 International, whose contract with Burnley is set to expire on June 30th, with Burnley entitled to compensation due to the striker’s age. This would mean that Ings would stay in the Premier League, with Burnley having been relegated this past season.

While Burnley and Liverpool haven’t yet agreed upon a fee for Ings, it seems more than likely that this deal will go through. Burnley released a statement regarding the potential transfer, with a spokesperson for the club saying: “Burnley Football Club has rejected an offer made by Liverpool but will continue to have dialogue with the club in order to reach a resolution over the fee.”

Liverpool also released a statement, saying: “Liverpool FC are delighted to announce that they have agreed personal terms with Danny Ings and, subject to a medical, the striker will join the club on July 1 after his contract with Burnley has expired.”

Ings scored 11 goals in 35 games in his first Premier League season with Burnley, besting Liverpool’s top scorer Steven Gerrard who netted nine in 29 matches last season. Ings will be Liverpool’s second signing of the season, after the Merseyside club secured James Milner from Manchester City on a free transfer.
