Comic-Con 2015: Watch The First Preview Scene From Sherlock’s Christmas Special!

At Comic-Con International’s Sherlock panel, executive producer Steven Moffat revealed that the Sherlock stand-alone Christmas special will be screened in movie theaters. The catch is that Moffat has no idea when it will come out in North America.

While BBC One will likely premiere the Sherlock Christmas special this December, PBS Masterpiece has control over when the episode will make its North American debut. And it seems likely that it won’t be happening until 2016 at the earliest.

The Christmas special takes place outside of the series continuity and it places Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Martin Freeman) in the original Victorian era as envisioned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Fans at Comic-Con also got an early look at the first preview scene from the Sherlock Christmas special, in which Sherlock and Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) have some amusing remarks about John’s writing.

CraveOnline’s report from the Sherlock panel will be posted later today!
