I once almost had a heart attack after winning 30 bucks on three consecutive scratchers, so winning three enormous payouts in one month would probably kill me.
But a lucky Virginia couple is still ticking after winning three jackpots totaling more than two million dollars in March.
According to the Virginian-Pilot, the fun started on March 12 when Calvin and Zatera Spencer won one million dollars playing Powerball. Two weeks later, Calvin won 50 grand after purchasing ten winning tickets in the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game. The very next day, Calvin won another million after buying a 100 Million Cash Extravaganza Scratcher ticket.
A spokesman for the Virginia Lottery said he hadn’t seen anything like it in his 12 years of employment.
The Spencers opted to take the one-time lump sum of $681,000 before taxes when they arrived to cash in their latest winning ticket and told reporters they plan to keep playing.
“We’re not finished yet,” Calvin said.
And based on their habit of buying up every ticket of every game the Virginia Lottery has to offer, we believe him.
Given how often they play, the Spencers could make this list by the end of 2015: 10 Lottery Winners Who Lost It All
