Meanwhile in China: Man Banned From All-You-Can-Eat BBQ For Eating Too Much, Clearly Has Never Been to America

In a season four episode of ‘The Simpsons,’ Homer sees an advertisement for an all-you-can-eat buffet at “The Frying Dutchman” restaurant. In true Homer fashion, he eats so much that he angers the sea captain owner and he’s dragged out of the restaurant before he’s actually done. While this seems like a funny premise for a television show, it’s not something that could happen in real life, right? Well, it sort of did recently. But it wasn’t in Springfield, it was in China.

He’s being referred to only as “Mr. Kang,” but he has a story to tell that seems remarkably similar to the plight of Homer Simpson. That’s because Mr. Kang told the local news he was recently banned from the Handadi Seafood BBQ Buffet in Changsha City after visiting the restaurant several times and eating way more than any human should ever eat.

As a reference, the first time he visited the buffet, he ate almost 3.5 pounds of pork trotters (also known as pig’s feet). The second time he strolled into the establishment, he downed almost eight pounds of prawns.

This is when the owner decided to put an end to this binge eater, claiming he was losing hundreds of dollars every time this man entered his restaurant. He told local news that, on top of the food, the man drinks 20 to 30 bottles of soy milk and eats whole trays of food meant for multiple diners.

On top of this, the man has been live-streaming his eating excursions. This has prompted the owner to ban all live-streamers from his restaurant. This begs the question: if a restaurant touts itself as all-you-can-eat, shouldn’t it allow anyone to eat as much as they can even if they eat a ridiculous amount of food? Otherwise, they should change it to almost-all-you-can-eat.
