Cold Stone Creamery Introduces Nintendo-Themed Ice Cream Flavors (What Are the Ingredients of Your Favorite Game?)

The only thing we love more than nostalgia is ice cream. And if we can somehow combine ice cream and nostalgia together to create a sweet, memorable treat, we are totally on board. That’s exactly what the folks at Cold Stone Creamery are doing. They teamed up with Nintendo to create three iconic video game-inspired frozen creations and one ice cream cake.

The first is Kirby and the Forgotten Land-themed. It’s called The Mighty Pink Puff (in reference to the fluffy character) and it’s made with strawberry ice cream, mini marshmallows, and caramel. The second creation is Animal Crossings-themed and it’s called Island Getaway. It features chocolate ice cream, strawberries, bananas, and whipped topping.

The last and by far the tastiest (and most nostalgic) sounding creation is the Mario Party Superstars-themed Superstar Sprinkle Blast. Made with cake batter ice cream, yellow cake, blue frosting, and rainbow sprinkles, it’s enough to make us want to break out our old Nintendo and play every Mario Bros. game back-to-back.

“We are thrilled to announce that Cold Stone is joining together with Nintendo once again to celebrate ice cream season,” Sara Schmillen, vice president of marketing for Kahala Brands, the parent company of Cold Stone Creamery, said in a press release. “We knew we had to come up with something extra special for our third year, and what better than to feature three of Nintendo’s beloved game titles like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Mario Party Superstars. Our guests are going to love collecting their beloved Nintendo characters on special edition cups while enjoying our super-premium ice cream this summer!”

But that’s not all. On top of the three ice cream creations, there is also a Mario and Luigi-adorned Rainbow Sprinkle Road Ice Cream Cake that features yellow cake, sweet cream ice cream, and rainbow sprinkles, all covered in blue frosting. All of the nostalgic treats will be available until Sept. 30 at your local Cold Stone Creamery.

We can’t imagine a better pairing than ice cream and video games.
