Pirate Some Cocktail Recipes Via Privateer Rum

National Talk Like a Pirate Day is an annual kitschy story, but engaging in it makes a grownup look like a jackass desperate for attention. Leave the “…Yarrrrs…” to the kids and celebrate the spirit of piracy with pirate spirits. Since Rum is a Caribbean creation found in traditional pirate stories, every drop is a .   

Privateer Rum was founded by Andrew Cabot, the direct descendant of an 18th century American patriot/privateer/rum-maker of the same name. It’s a craft, small batch booze made without additives or sweeteners. Pirates might’ve been involved with its production, but we can’t confirm or deny it.

Devil Seam

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz. Privateer Silver Reserve Rum
  • ¾ oz. Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut
  • ¾ oz. Orange Juice
  • ¾ oz. Pineapple Juice  

Preparation: Combine all ingredients in a glass and top with crushed ice. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.  

Perfect Storm

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Privateer Silver Reserve Rum
  • 5 oz. Ginger Beer
  • 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters  

Preparation: Combine ingredients into a highball glass with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.  

Phusion Spicy Gimlet

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Privateer Silver Reserve Rum
  • 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 oz. Simple Syrup
  • 1 slice Jalapeño
  • 6 cilantro leaves
  • Small pinch of salt  

Preparation: Combine ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice and shake until properly chilled and diluted.

Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a smacked cilantro leaf. Heat can be adjusted by adding more or less jalapeño.

Ruby Rose

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Privateer Silver Reserve Rum
  • 4 oz. Fresh Ruby Grapefruit Juice
  • ½ oz. Simple Syrup
  • 1 Sprig Rosemary  

Preparation: Muddle Rosemary and rum in a highball glass. Add grapefruit juice, simple syrup and ice.
