LG has unveiled their Minibeam Nano projector, a device which the company has stated will provide users with both an affordable and portable entertainment experience.
The projector, which measures in at just 108 x 103 x 44mm, is the company’s “smallest, lightest and most affordable projector to date,” boasting both an HDMI and a USB sport and allows for wireless streaming and mirroring from smartphones, tablets and other such devices, with an integrated 3800 mAh battery that lasts for up to 2 hours constant use.

Though the company hasn’t revealed exactly what its price point to be, they have claimed that it will be “super cheap” and will allow users to showcase presentations, movies and the like on the fly from their mobile devices. If you’re looking for a device that can easily project your spreadsheets during meetings, then this looks to be a reasonable option that won’t break the bank, while it can also be used to project movies from your iPhone or shows on Netflix.
Its LED lamp can project 100 ANSI lumens of brightness with a contrast ratio of 100,000:1, with the image it projects can be expanded by up to 100 inches. Its 1W mono sound may leave a little to be desired, but you can add your own sound system through the device’s headset jack – no one should really expect great audio from this tiny thing, though, so its poor sound quality can’t really be held against it given its small stature.
LG senior vice-president Lee In-kyu said that the device weighs in at a “quarter of a kilogram,” claiming that it’s a projector for consumers who are “becoming increasingly more mobile but don’t want to give up the comforts of a big display when it comes to their entertainment.”
The Minibeam Nano projector will become available later this month in North America and Europe, though no set release date has been given and its price remains a mystery. With the LG PH300 LED Minibeam Projector retailing for around $400, we’d expect that the Minibeam Nano will retail for a much lower price.
