Milan Collections | Marc Jacobs S/S16

“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” Maybe Miranda Priestly will make an exception for Marc Jacobs spring summer 2016 collection. His show was not floral heavy, but did feature beautiful traditional Japanese floral prints mixed with soft pinks and mint green colors.

To break up the softness, Jacobs used olive, navy, and charcoal grays within utility jackets, suits, and bomber jackets. His suits were both altered and loose, which made them both casual and business savvy.

Apart from the color palate, a fun surprise was a navy bomber jacket with a tiger applique on the back. Its mighty roar (think Katy Perry at the Super Bowl) was paired with mint green pants and a crisp white shirt.

Continuing with the love for animal print, the collection included leopard printed ties and shirts within the mix of suede jackets and flip-flops. These prints were cohesive with his Japanese inspired prints, but the use of plaids could be argued otherwise.

Overall, Marc Jacobs’ show was traditional Marc: fun, hip, and slightly edgy.
