Banksy Films have released a commercial for Dismaland, the artist’s “Bemusement Park” that serves as a Bizarro World version of Disneyland, located in Weston-Super-Mare and with attractions such as a grim reaper spinning around on a bumper car and TSA-esque intrusive security searches.
As is typically the case with Banksy, Dismaland stands to make a variety of obvious criticisms of our society, including the typical array of lackadaisical political statements encompassing everything from immigration to personal privacy. As highlighted in its commercial, Dismaland continues in Banksy’s tradition of pointing at things and telling us that they’re bad, and is the ideal destination for those who want to feign concern in regards to the Real Issues, but who don’t particularly want to do anything about them. It’s for people who’d look at his street art of the Vietnamese child running naked from a Napalm strike whilst holding hands with Mickey Mouse and Ronald McDonald, and who would say: “Wow, really makes you think, doesn’t it?” despite it having not made them think anything other than “I wonder if I can get this design on a t-shirt?”

You can buy tickets for Dismaland, just in the same way that you can buy tickets for Disneyland, right here. It is also set to host a number of musical performances in the near future, including shows from the likes of Massive Attack and Run The Jewels.
