Anonymous have announced that they are now targeting US presidential candidate Donald Trump, after having launched a large-scale distribution denial of service (DDoS) attack on a Trump Tower website, over Trump’s comments regarding his belief that the US should prohibit all Muslims from entering the country for a period of time.

The hacktivist group made the announcement on their main Twitter account, which has over 1.6 million followers, posting the following series of tweets:

Anonymous also released the following video announcing the start of  “#OpTrump:”

The following is an excerpt from the video:

Donald Trump , It has come to our attention that you want to ban all muslims to enter the United States. This policy is going to have a huge impact. This is what ISIS wants. The more Muslims feel sad, the more ISIS feel that they can recruit them. The more United States appears to be targeting Muslims not just radical Muslims. You can be sure that ISIS would put that up on they social media campaign. Donald Trump think twice before you speak anything . you have been warn Mr Donald Trump.

Aside from the group’s DDoS attack on Trump Tower’s New York website, which periodically forced the site offline, it is unclear what measures Anonymous are planning to take in their latest protest.

The hacktivists most recently targeted ISIS in their last cyber war, with them suspending Twitter accounts affiliated with the terrorist organization and taking a number of the group’s websites offline.
