Year by year, the Consumer Electronic Show is becoming America’s fifth major auto show. That trend continued at CES 2016 when McLaren Automotive and JVCKENWOOD debuted their concept car/design study, the McLaren 675LT JVCKENWOOD Concept.
The concept is based on the transcendent new McLaren 675LT Coupe – a supercar aimed at celebrating the automaker’s 25th anniversary in Formula 1. The 675LT recently went into a 500 car production in Woking, UK. All 500 are sold, but there is only one JVCKENWOOD model.

The McLaren design team, built in the JVCKENWOOD CAROPTRONICS system into the 675LT Coupe. That’s no easy feat as the interiors of McLaren supercars are like racing cockpits — minimalist, tight and contoured.
The concept’s custom interior includes the JVCKENWOOD technology, along with Carbon Black Nappa Leather, Calypso Orange Nappa Leather, Geometric Black Technical Fabric, Satellite Grey Technical Fabric across the dash area and into the doors and the steering wheel from McLaren’s halo car, the track-only McLaren P1 GTR.
It’s the JVCKENWOOD package that marks the biggest changes. The CAROPTRONICS systems include an all-in-one Head-Up Display and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. The HUD system replaces the vehicle’s instrument cluster, and the driver receives all information from the HUD whiles the eyes are own the road. The ADAS detects vehicles, and the display interface devices communicates information collected to drivers.
With CAROPTRONICS, aerodynamic digital cameras replace the optical side mirrors of the 675LT Coupe. A Digital Review Mirror replaces a conventional mirror, combining three cameras to offer a wider rear field of view.
For the record, the major U.S. auto shows take place in (arranged in calendar order) Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago and New York. With CES adding more automakers to the convention floor every year — and with cars becoming more technologically advanced every day — that trend will only continue.
