Restless Leg Syndrome is a real plague that afflicts millions. Cures, however, are rare, as causes are legion. So many will have to go through life sitting in classrooms and offices, bouncing their knees against their will. It may be a sad sight to non-sufferers, but it is merely the reality of fidgeters everywhere.

So as long as we can’t stop fidgeting a designer named Nathalie Teugles has figured she’d turn the excess movements of the restless into viable electricity. Her newly designed chair, called Moov, uses the science of piezoelectirity (electricity that can accumulate in solid materials) to direct the energy exerted during wiggling into an electrical charge. The charge accumulates in an in-chair battery, and can be accessed through a USB port, handy for charging phones and tablets. Those who wiggle can now charge their phones with their own bodies.
The chair is coated with sensors, and its wire frame causes the chair to move about whenever one sits down or stands up. The design assures constant movement, even for people who do tend to sit still.
In an interview with Designboom, Teugles revealed that she was often told to “sit still” as a child, a demand she was never able to fulfill due to ADHD. As an adult, she reasoned that she wasn’t the only one who couldn’t sit still, and saw the potential for energy conversion.
