Jose Mourinho launched into a scathing verbal attack on West Brom in the tunnel following their 2-2 draw last weekend, branding the Premier League side a “Mickey Mouse club” and WBA Swedish international Jonas Olsson a “Mickey Mouse player”.
The confrontation came following Chelsea and West Brom’s heated match, which saw Chelsea awarded a very late penalty following a questionable decision by the referee, judging arguably innocent contact from the baggies’ Steven Reid on Ramires as a foul.
Eden Hazard scored the controversial equaliser, which maintained Chelsea’s record of never having suffered a defeat at Stamford Bridge under the management of Mourinho, while denying West Brom of their first victory at the stadium since 1978.
West Brom players furiously debated the ref’s decision, and the away fans in attendance booed and jeered accordingly, but the 94th minute penalty still stood.
In the tunnel, Olsson and Mourinho reportedly squared up to each other, before Chris Brunt, Gareth McAuley and Chelsea stewards stepped in and defused the situation. Mourinho and Olsson later shook hands before West Brom departed the stadium on their team bus.
