Is Resident Evil 7 a PS4 Exclusive?

Resident Evil 7 was unveiled during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference last night, and given the announcement that it would also be available to play in PSVR, some questioned whether or not it was set to be a PS4 exclusive.

While the Resident Evil series and Sony go back a long way, with it previously having been exclusive to the PlayStation during its first couple of entries, since then the series has gone multi-platform. However, the debut trailer for the game certainly suggested that this would not be the case this time around, with Sony even revealing that the game’s first demo had exclusively launched on the PlayStation Store via PlayStation Plus.

However, it has since been confirmed that the game will also come to the Xbox One and PC, with the official Resident Evil Facebook page writing: “Resident Evil 7 is coming to PS4 (with PS VR Mode), Xbox One, and PC on January 24, 2017.”

Though Microsoft has announced that its Project Scorpio console will be VR ready, it’s uncertain whether or not the Xbox One version of the game will eventually be able to be played in this virtual reality mode. It also hasn’t been confirmed whether PC gamers will be able to play it in VR.
