J.K. Rowling Chats ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’ In A New Featurette

Following on from the first spine-tingling teaser for J.K. Rowling‘s forthcoming film Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, a new featurette has now been released featuring Rowling chatting about the characters and plot of the new film.

Set to be released in the US this coming November, Fantastic Beasts is based on a textbook used by Harry Potter in the original series and it follows the life and adventures of its author Newt Scamander, who will be played by Eddie Redmayne.

The new featurette has been revealed just days after the latest poster for the film was unveiled.

“While I was writing Potter, I became quite interested in Newt Scamander,” Rowling reveals in the featurette. “He’s been traveling the world studying magical creatures. He calls himself a magizooligist”.

Redmayne is also featured in the clip, and he reveals some inside about his character’s personality and motivations. “Newt feels more at home with creatures than he does with human beings,” Redmayne says.

Rowling goes on to talk about her writing process, and how she constructs her heroes whether they be Newt, Harry Potter or otherwise. “My heroes are always people who feel themselves to be set apart, stigmatized or othered. That’s at the heart of most of what I write and it’s certainly at the heart of this movie.”
