Modell’s Loses $500,000 on Patriots AFC Championship Gear

Finally, a bigger waste of money than the fifteen bucks we dropped on “After Earth.”

One of the nation’s largest sporting goods retailers spent $500,000 printing hats, shirts, novelties and pennants that displayed this year’s AFC champions: the New England Patriots. Of course, that’s not the case after the 26

-16 ass-pounding the Pats received at the hands of the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

According to Modell’s Sporting Goods CEO Mitch Modell, none of the merchandise will be sold to the American public since the Patriots failed to reach Super Bowl 48:

“We took a tremendous risk, but you know what? People expect us to have the merchandise. We printed up everything – you name it – for men, women and kids.”

All of the worthless Patriots gear will instead be donated to third world countries, meaning that some kid in Liberia might be getting a New England Patriots AFC Championship T-shirt to match the one he got last year.
