Jordan Peele Directed a Horror Movie And It Looks Scary As All Get Out

Hollywood likes to shoehorn actors, writers and filmmakers into one particular genre or another, so when an entertainer who gets famous for making you laugh gets an opportunity to write and direct a serious horror film, it’s an achievement worth celebrating. And while we haven’t seen Jordan Peele’s upcoming thriller Get Out yet, and for all we know it might eventually suck, the trailer that premiered today certainly looks terrifying as all get out.

The film stars Daniel Kaluuya as a young man with a white girlfriend, who visits her parents and discovers… well, maybe they’re a little racist, maybe they’re just condescending, or maybe they’re hypnotizing black people into forced servitude. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s what in the trailer for Get Out, which is a good thing since we wouldn’t want all of the twists ruined for us, it does seem like a genuinely great idea for a horror movie. Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner meets The Stepford Wives is a brilliant pitch, and if Get Out is as good as it looks, it’s bound to make an impression and – hopefully – get some meaningful conversations started when it arrives in theaters on February 24, 2016.
