Cubs Choose To Visit Obama In White House Before Trump Takes Office

The 2016 World Series champion Chicago Cubs will visit the White House Monday, taking an early trip to D.C. to catch President Obama before he leaves office. They will be the final pro sports team to visit the White House with Obama in office.

Normally the World Series champions visit the President at the White House during the MLB season. However, the Cubbies are taking up Obama’s offer to come visit him before Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th president.

The visit has already been confirmed by NBC Chicago and the Sun Times.

Obama is from Chicago. It’s understandable for him to want to congratulate the first Cubs team in 108 years to win the World Series. However, considering Trump’s polarizing nature, it will be interesting to see who decides to visit the White House once he takes office.

LeBron James and the Cavs have already reportedly commented they may not visit the White House under a Trump administration. Jalen Rose and many others believe a majority of the NBA feels the same way.
