Nominees for the Canadian Screen Awards were announced today, and leading the way is filmmaker Xavier Dolan as well as the hit Space series Orphan Black, starring Tatiana Maslany.
Flicks including Weirdos, Operation Avalanche and Before the Streets were also nominated.
Dolan’s latest film, It’s Only the End of the World, received nine nods including best picture and best director. Meanwhile, Orphan Black, which is going into its final season, got 14 nominations – best dramatic series, best direction, and best actress are just three of the categories where it’s being recognized.
Other nominees include Schitt’s Creek, 19-2 and Vikings. Christopher Plummer will be given a Lifetime Achievement Award during the gala event, hosted by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. It will air on March 12th from the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto.
The Canadian Screen Awards is the program where awards are given by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television recognize excellence in Canadian film, English language television and digital media productions. It is a live broadcast show.
