10 Reasons To Play Fantasy Baseball
You're too old for action figures ...
... But you still want to play God like an 8-year-old. That's the mantra our writer and fellow fantasy baseball fanatic B. Redd Reddoch lives by.
Winning is less luck-based
In order to win fantasy football you have to nail your draft AND get lucky during the regular season because football is a gruesome game filled with injuries. Make it through the season with 50% of your team still with active limbs and you're sitting pretty. In fantasy baseball, with few exceptions, just nail your draft and make a couple solid trades and you're looking at a championship!
There are countless ways to play
You can play head-to-head (like fantasy football), roto (all cumulative stats added up from over the course of the full season) or just about any other way your heart desires. Take advantage of the dozens of stat categories you can count and it's pretty easy to hit a home run with friends. And we all know you've never hit a home run in your life.
The 6-month payout is much more rewarding
Sure, you can win a fantasy football title over the fall. But a game that starts with Spring Training and ends in October? That's something to actually brag about. Well, that, and chugging a 40 oz. in less than 30 seconds.
Math + Strategy = brain stimulation
Do you want Alzheimers?
It's better for you 'daily fantasy' degenerates
Fantasy football is a once-a-week challenge. But fantasy baseball?? WHoah-ho-HO! That's an every day challenge filled with endless $$$!
It's a much tougher challenge
Bros win fantasy football every year by checking their lineups once a week. Fantasy baseball takes real commitment, like every day commitment. It's like a marriage. A marriage you will actually enjoy.
It temporarily fills the fantasy football void
Alright, alright. We admit fantasy football is great and come February there is certainly withdrawal that rivals CashMeOusside girl without her papparazzi. Fantasy baseball is the perfect way to fill that void.
It keeps friends in touch
Your bro, your bro in law, your college buddy, your uncle, your dad, your childhood best friend, your childhood bully who turned into a frenemy into adulthood -- fantasy baseball is the perfect way to keep everyone in touch. Adding smack talk only improves those long-distance connections.
It gives you a reason to actually watch baseball
Just look at this father and son with their dawg. No way they're enjoying this moment together unless they're playing fantasy baseball.
