Hard to believe it’s been almost a decade since the passing of Heath Ledger, the hunk and the legend. A transplant from Australia, Ledger quickly stole the hearts of every weak-in-the-knees woman and won over every guy with his laid-back roles. And now with his documentary, I Am Heath Ledger, upon us, we thought now is as good a time as any to salute our fallen favorite by revisiting our favorite films of his.
The full feature is set to explore the impressive life, art and career, as well as the depression and decline of such a wonderful human being. Though the last years were said to be filled with crippling darkness, we expect nothing less than inspiring footage, shot by Hart Snider and starring former co-star, Naomi Watts, and Ben Mendelsohn.

If we're being honest, we barely remember the film, but it made the list purely because of love seeing Halle Berry without clothes. Damn, we miss Peter Boyle. We know, not the best way to start this list, but please continue.

"Ned Kelly" (2003)

Heath played the lead in the Australian outback and was joined by Orlando Bloom for a quiet, yet violent little film with Naomi Watts, one of our favorites.

"Casanova" (2005)

Lasse Hallström directed a Christmas day beauty with Heath as the ever-seductive womanizer across from Sienna Miller, another favorite blonde babe of ours.

"Candy" (2006)
Another unique tale of love and squalor with a gorgeous blonde (Abbie Cornish), Candy brings Heath back together with costar Geoffrey Rush as he and Cornish, a poet and an artist go down the warm rabbit hole of love and heroin.

"Brokeback Mountain" (2005)

Heath gave up his blonde bombshells to poke around the great outdoors with fellow cowpoke, Jake Gyllenhaal. Seems like a fair trade. Though the movie is the butt (buddy) of most movie jokes, it's quite powerful, as is Heath's performance, unlike Randy Quaid's.

From a peasant to a king, we jousted our way through a few laughs and barrels of medieval fun more than 15 years ago. And we'd do it again, especially with Shannyn Sossamon there.

"10 Things I Hate About You" (1999)
This was around the time we knew he'd be big. We're not so big up on romantic comedies, but if there's one person who was good at them, it's Heath (and, of course, McConaughey).

"The Patriot" (2000)
Before Mel Gibson went bat shit, he delivered up some classic period pieces. We tend to forget Heath was right up there with him, still fairly young at the ripe age of 21.

"Lords of Dogtown" (2005)
You could see the ensuing role of Joker in his eyes if you go back and watch him run the Venice locale show in Lords of Dogtown, one of the best and truest documentations of 1970s California surf and skate culture.

"The Dark Knight" (2008)
He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role that drove him into the ground. After all the lighthearted, playful Joker roles in the past, we weren't ready for such a compelling performance. Bravo, Heath. Bravo.
