Exclusive | Big Trouble In Merrie Olde England Illustrated Novel

Comic-Con is right around the corner, and Boom! Studios is counting the days by making some big announcements along the way. Today, we’re proud to exclusively reveal the next chapter in the Big Trouble in Little China franchise!

Last year, RiffTrax writer/performer Matthew J. Elliott sent Ol’ Jack Burton on an international adventure in Big Trouble in Little China: Big Trouble In Mother Russia, an illustrated novel. This year, Elliott is coming back for the second Big Trouble illustrated novel, and he’s teaming with artist Jonas Scharf, whose work you may have seen in the comic adaptation of War for the Planet of the Apes and Warlords of Appalachia. For this adventure, the Pork-Chop Express is heading to the UK in Big Trouble in Little China:  Big Trouble In Merrie Olde England; which finds Jack, Wang, and Gracie once again in over their heads as they desperately search for the legendary sword, Excalibur.

Today, we’re also debuting Robert Sammelin’s cover for Big Trouble in Merrie Olde England, which features a striking image of Jack and the sword.

Here’s the official description of the novel from Boom! Studios:

“In this second Big Trouble in Little China illustrated prose novel, Jack Burton, Wang Chi, and Gracie Law are forced on an adventure to find the lost Excalibur sword, so they must traverse the mystical, topsy-turvy underbelly of England. Hunted by the Wing Kong and the reanimated corpse of Lightning, the trio discovers that things are never as they seem.”

“Jack Burton is in England – God Save the Queen!” exclaimed Elliott. “In the latest continuation of the Big Trouble saga, Jack and his pals find themselves right in the middle of a modern-day Arthurian legend, and are deeply relieved to find that it’s nothing like a Guy Ritchie movie. The British Secret Service want Jack, the London cops want Jack, the Wing Kong want Jack. Jack wants Excalibur. And to get back his beloved rig, the Pork-Chop Express. And it wouldn’t be a day in the life of Jack Burton if he didn’t have to avert the end of the world – and that’s just for starters!

If you join Jack and his crew on this adventure, you’ll experience England’s capital city at all levels, from the skies over Bloomsbury, to the famed London Underground. A wild motorcycle chase through Trafalgar Square leads to the secret headquarters of MI5, the Chinatown casino hideout of the Wing Kong, a trip down the Thames, and a Duran Duran concert. Hey, it’s Britain in the ’80s – what can I tell you?”

Big Trouble in Little China: Big Trouble in Merrie Olde England will be published in December of this year.
