Kris Bryant Just Fielded Ground Balls Poured With Gasoline and Lit On Fire For Red Bull

Leave it to Red Bull to ensure that baseball’s infamous ‘hot corner’ gets as hot as possible … literally, with fire.

One of the most famous players currently manning the hot corner is Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant, the reigning National League MVP. So, yes, we all know the World Series champion is a stud. But what kind of player takes ground balls so hot they’re literally on fire?

The folks at Red Bull poured gasoline onto baseballs, blow-torched them and sent them at Bryant while manning third base for a night photoshoot. It’s a publicity stunt at its finest — something we would all get in trouble for attempting as juveniles on a bored summer day. I’m simply baffled the Cubs actually let their star player do this.

Don’t worry, Chicago Cubs fans — Bryant wore flameproof Adidas ClimaCool underpants and a long-sleeve shirt that actively pushed heat and sweat away from his body through a combination of heat and moisture-dissipating materials, ventilation channels and fabrics that allow air to circulate close to the skin. Full disclosure: His Rawlings glove was toasted pretty good!

The ‘hot corner’ gets its name from the rocket line drives pulled down the third-base line, sometimes at up to 125 miles per hour.

Not a bad stunt, Red Bull. This pyromaniac appreciates it.
