The French are known for their exquisite cuisines and world-famous dining experiences. Their food is largely considered some of the best in the world, and that opinion hasn’t changed for years now.
But it takes a certain type of appetite to endure some of the stuff they eat. Sometimes they eat meals that might make you and I hurl at the first mention. Well, this French mayor is here to test your stomach.
Charles Dayot is the mayor of Mont-de-Marsan. He once boldly said that soccer club Paris Saint-Germain would beat powerhouse Barcelona in the Championship League. He was so confident in his pick that he said he would eat a rat if Barcelona won.
Well, Barcelona smashed PSG, 6-1, and I guess rats are on the menu now.
As you can see in the clip, the mayor followed through with the bet and ate up the rat like he enjoyed it. At least he certainly looks like he’s enjoying it.

Turns out the rat was only half of the bet. Dayot also said he would vote for left-wing candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon in a recent election. He admitted that he didn’t actually vote for Melenchon, which is kinda shitty when it comes to following through with paying a bet, but at least he ate a rat.
