Otakuthon 2017 Is Back In Montreal

Otakuthon 2017 is bringing the best of the anime world to Montreal this weekend.

Running from August 4-6, guests of honour include Japanese voice actress and J-pop singer Ayako Kawasumi,  Amanda Miller (she’d one it all, from voicing Cherche and Sully, the knight nicknamed “The Woman to End All Men” in Nintendo‘s Fire Emblem: Awakening, to filling bad guys with arrows as the Marvel superhero Kate Bishop/Hawkeye), Cherami Leigh, who has been in the industry for 20 years as a voice actor, an actor and a creator, and IA”, a virtual artist brought to life as part of the VOCALOIDTM3 library “IA -ARIA ON THE PLANETES-” and “IA ROCKS -ARIA ON THE PLANETES-“, which are both ranked #1 on the Amazon Japan Music Software chart. IA-related videos have collectively garnered more than 100 million views.

The Gunpla Builders World Cup (GWBC) will be hosting its first-ever competition in Montreal, Quebec at Otakuthon. There will be the first concert of Man With A Mission in Quebec, where this popular band performs various anime songs, including the opening themes of Log Horizon and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Tokyo Tanaka is the vocalist, Kamikaze Boy is on the bass, Jean-Ken Johnny is on the guitar, DJ Santa Monica is the disc jockey, and Spear Rib is on the drums.

From the producers of the Vocaloid Artist IA 1st Place, Otakuthon will also host Party a GO-GO for their first-ever Canadian concert. Party a GO-GO is IA’s solo concert, which she is performing around the world, and it’s a unique show where band, dancers, featured guests and technology came together for the first time on the stage of Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo, in 2015.
