Well whaddaya know. Turns out the big ol’ hullaballoo about poor ol’ Tony Abbott being victimised by a pro-marriage equality advocate was essentially just one big politically-motivated beat-up.
ICYMI: The former PM recently copped a headbutt from an aggro punter while he was walking the streets of Hobart and claimed he was attacked because of his controversial “no” views on same-sex-marriage.
But it turns out, he was attacked because — well — he’s Tony Abbott.
The North Hobart DJ responsible for planting Tone with a Glasgow kiss has spoken out after being charged with common assault by Tasmania Police, telling The Mercury exactly what motivated his actions.
“It was nothing really remotely to do with [SSM],” Astro Labe explained. “It’s just about Tony Abbott, the fucking worm that he is. All it was is I saw Tony Abbott and I’d had half a skinful and I wanted to nut the c*nt.”
What a quote.
He continued: “I want to divorce myself [from the same-sex marriage issue], not because I disagree with their stance, but this was nothing to do with that. That’s just my personal hatred.”
Old mate also explained that he was wearing a pro-SSM sticker “purely because a friend of mine had walked past handing them out and had stuck one on my jacket.”
Apart from the motivations behind his actions, the 38-year-old’s account of events seems to match-up pretty seamlessly with the one that Tone has been circulating in the media:
“I was like ‘Tony, Tony’, I kind of trotted up behind him,” he explains with apparent pride. “I trotted up behind him, ‘I just want to shake your hand’ and just went bang. Kind of missed it. Gave him a fat lip. He got off pretty lightly. He’s just lucky I’m not a violent c*nt. I’m an anarchist, he’s an evil c*nt.”
So there you go. Now that the facts have come to light, hopefully the conservative media will be as keen to publish them as they were the half-baked story about Tony Abbott getting bashed for his anti-SSM stance, which — as 7 News points out — amounted to a “PR disaster” for the ‘Yes’ campaign.
