Nintendo Is About to Reveal Something Big for the Switch

Nintendo Switch has seen incredible success since it launched back in March 2017. While the new console looked a little quirky, and went in a completely different direction to the 4K-obsessed PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, the Switch delivered on big exclusives, made portable.

Nintendo president, Tatsumi Kimishima, is aiming to replicate this success, and is heading into 2018 with a clear strategy. Speaking with newspaper Mainichi, he stated that “in order to be playable in the long term, the second year is crucial.” He added that, “[Nintendo’s] tasks [are] to add more users, including people who barely touch game consoles.”

To kick off the new year, Nintendo will be revealing something significant at 5 p.m. ET. It’s been described as a “new interaction experience” for the Switch, which is “specially crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart.”

It’s not clear what Nintendo will be revealing, but with the company’s new focus on persuading non-gamers to pick up a Nintendo Switch controller, I think it’s likely to be super-accessible, kid-friendly title, aimed at a more casual audience.

Time will tell what the big “interaction experience” is. Tune in here at 5 p.m. ET for the reveal.
