‘Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein Drops F-Bombs Into Emmy Acceptance Speech (Watch the Unedited Video)

Even the best actor in the world doesn’t win an Emmy every day. So it doesn’t surprise us that the occasion deserves an F-bomb. Make that two. So it went for 41-year-old British actor and writer Brett Goldstein, who won an award for Ted Lasso, in which he depicts a potty-mouthed soccer player named Roy Kent.

Here’s the uncensored version of the speech:

“I was very, very specifically told I’m not allowed to swear, so this speech is going to be fucking short,” Goldstein said.“Thank you Warners, thank you Apple, thank you…the team. To my teammates that I’m nominated with and all my team—This cast makes me sick, they’re so good. And I want to say to my mum, my dad, Tara, Matt, Zebby, and Bo and Beth, I love you. And lastly, I want to say to Jason, Bill, Brendan, and Joe Kelly, thank you for making this show. Thank you for making me a part of it. It has been one of the greatest honors, privileges, and privileges — I just said that twice — double privilege! It’s the most privileged privilege and pleasures of my life…and this is the fucking icing on the cake. I’m so sorry. Please have me back!”

When asked backstage by Entertainment Tonight about the expletive-laden acceptance speech, the actor joked, “That does not sound like me. That sounds like an accusation that cannot stand.”

But he wasn’t the only one who included profanity in his remarks. His co-star, Hannah Waddingham, also won an Emmy and also dropped an F-bomb during her speech. (Great minds think alike.)

We don’t know what the big fucking deal is. Colorful language like Goldstein’s livens up what would otherwise be a snore-fest of an awards show.
