Fan Gropes Adam Levine During Maroon 5 Concert (And His Reaction Is Very Adam Levine)

Given that Adam Levine has built his music career on being a heartthrob – and that the majority of his band Maroon 5’s songs are basically about his sexual prowess – it’s unsurprising that fans fall head over heels for the pop-rock star. It’s really no wonder that some of them might not only feel motivated, but entitled, to cop a feel of the tattooed singer if they get within spitting distance of him. But it would seem that Levine doesn’t actually know what to do with all that fan affection he attracts from the ladies.

How do we know? Because the 42-year-old musician recently confessed that he was “startled” when a female fan jumped onstage and embraced him during a Maroon 5 concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles last weekend.

In a now-viral TikTok video, the musician is seen belting out the Maroon 5 hit “Sunday Morning” when a blonde woman runs onstage and hugs him while he’s singing with his eyes closed. Levine realizes what’s happening, cringes, and steps away as security takes care of her. He then yells “Fuck!” and shakes the unwelcome affection off with disgust, as though the fan had been coated in slime.

It was not a good look, to say the least – and after the interaction went viral, fans were split on Levine’s reaction. Some said he should have had an attitude of gratitude towards his fans while others said no one should have to put up with nonconsensual touch, even if they are a celebrity.

“He should act like that with all his money cars and houses that was given to him by FANS,” one commenter quipped.

“He needs to sit down and be humble for a sec,” another concurred.

“She grabbed him. He was visibly uncomfortable. He’s HUMAN. personal space is a basic right. You can’t tell me you wouldn’t feel ‘icky’ if someone grabbed you without your permission. Expecting celebrities to be above others is unfair and unnecessary,” a thoughtful fan opined.

“People need to calm down. His reaction was 10000% valid,” someone else said.

Levine felt the need to explain himself in an Instagram Story on Tuesday.

“I have always been someone that loves, respects, worships our fans. Without our fans, we don’t have a job. I say that all the time — to our fans. I just need you guys to know I was really startled. And sometimes when you’re startled … you have to shake it off and move on ’cause I’m doing my job up there. It’s what I pride myself on. I need to let you guys know what my heart is, and my heart is that connection that exists between the band performing onstage and the fans. I hope that we can all understand that.”

We have to agree that having a strange woman force herself on us would weird us out, too – then again, if that’s the worst occupational hazard we had, we don’t know that we’d complain about it. Grope away, ladies. Grope away.
