Kanye West Announces $200 Stem Player Is the Only Way to Hear ‘Donda 2’ (Cue Crickets)

Just when you thought Kanye couldn’t get any more obnxious, here comes this surprising development. The good news is that it’s not about Kim Kardashian or Pete Davidson. The bad news is it’s about to get hella more expensive to listen to Ye’s music.

In an Instagram post, Ye announced that you can only hear his Donda follow-up on a special device that he’s selling.

“Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube,” the born-again rapper explained alongside a video of the handheld device, which is giving us light-up diaphragm vibes.

“Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes,” Kanye continued. “It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own.”

Leave it to a conservative-minded a-hole to make his personal gain masquerade as a form of empowerment for the rest of us. Next thing we know, Ye is going to start spouting off about how welfare makes people lazy or that slavery was a choice. (Oh, wait…)

Let’s be clear what the Stem Player actually is: a form of control that puts more money in his pocket and takes it out of yours.

Should artists take home more cash from the sales of their albums? Absolutely. Should the average Joe – rather than record execs – be expected to bridge the gap? No fucking way.

If you’re an idiot, you can go to stemplayer.com to order the device. If you have a half-a-brain (and good taste in music), you’ll put earplugs in every time Kanye opens his mouth from here on out. We’re certainly done listening to his bullshit. *Mic drop.*
