When you love something, there’s no better way to memorialize it than through art. That’s what 29-year-old Kieran Wright is doing with beloved Los Angeles structures. The small-scale artist is recreating the most iconic buildings in LA in such fine detail, it’ll make your jaw drop.
Wright, who lives in Miracle Mile but is originally from New Zealand, has already recreated 20 sites in miniature. His muses span from touristy spots like Dodger Stadium and the Troubadour in West Hollywood to lesser-known venues like Tail o’ the Pup in Beverly Grove and Al & Bea’s Mexican Food in Boyle Heights.

Wright builds at 1:24 scale, using materials like foam, wood, and plastics to replicate the original textures of the buildings. While he does occasionally rely on 3D printing and Photoshop to bring his creations to life, most of what he does is by hand.
“I’ll go to the 99-cent store looking for something that might look like a tiny light bulb or something,” he told LAist. “The miniatures take me a lot of time to make because I make everything.”

Wright is gaining notoriety for his impressive work. He’s been featured on The World According to Jeff Goldblum and he’s created custom pieces for A-list stars like Issa Rae and J.J. Abrams. But he doesn’t do what he does for the fame. Rather, it’s about the nostalgia and preserving memories of the places that matter to people.
“I think it’s important to make sure that these … family-run businesses are going to be around for another 100 years or 50 years, because serving their community is so important,” he told LAist.
