There are few actors who embody greatness both on and off the screen. As profoundly amazing and gifted as Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino are as actors, they just fail to capture today’s social media fanboy imagination. The most important question to ask when gauging an actor’s coolness in the digital age of social media is: is this actor cool enough to become a living and breathing meme? We here at Mandatory feel there’s no weirder and yet cooler actor to typify our weird social media landscape than Jeff Goldblum.
From fighting aliens in Independence Day to rolling with dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, Jeff Goldblum clearly takes roles that involve fantastical premises worthy of internet idolatry. The snarky sarcasm and professorial coolness he brought to the role of Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park was worthy of an Academy Award. Besides his odd way of speaking, what we love most about Goldblum is the way he seems to get cooler and cooler with age.
Now, you will never be as cool as Goldblum and you’d be setting yourself up for one massively terrific fail if you even tried, but you can learn or thing or two from the Goldblum way. You most likely won’t be cool enough to ever convince people about great apartment deals, but you might find yourself cooler than when you started. So that’s why we have come up with a helpful guide to getting cooler with age.
